What do you get when you have a night of pretty pink G&T’s, glittery blue donuts, ice cream covered in popping candy and numerous shopping offers from all your beloved retailers? A frenzy of fashionistas causing mayhem at Pitt St Mall on a Thursday night. I decided to rally this year and fish out my favourite sparkly skirt from DKNY and Valentino heels for Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night Out.
As an American Express customer and partner, I was lucky enough to squeeze myself into the very popular pop-up lounge for a cheeky drink before venturing out into the chaos. It was predicted that some 200,000 shoppers would be around but I’m quite certain there was more – it felt like a music festival but with eager shoppers wanting to pick up some great bargains.
The American Express Lounge was adorned with the classic American Express blue complete with flower wall for all the avid instagrammers and people wanting to cause serious FOMO amongst their friends. If you know me then you’ll know that I’m a devoted gin lover and can never say no to a good G&T – especially when they come in a sweet shade of pink.
In case you missed out on all the farshun fun, American Express was offering members $20 credit when you spend $50 or more in one transaction (like that’s hard these days haha) at participating retailers between August 21stto September 14th. Retailers include David Jones, Camilla, Cue, Jurlique, Mecca, Zara and plenty more!
I don’t know about how you guys shop these days but the tap and go system has seriously changed my life to the point where it irritates me when I still need to insert my card into EFTPOS machines. American Express have taken it one step further and offered American Express wearable payment bands for card holders to link up their card for contactless payments. I’m not talking tacky rubber Fitbit looking things; I’m talking fine artisanal leather bands from Jean Rousseau and HIRSCH completed with 304L grade stainless steel pin buckles.
