For those who haven’t heard me rave on about how excited I was for the Diner en Blanc event (admittedly most people), I thought I’d do a little recap of the magical evening held in Centennial Park this year. DEB is a night where everyone from toddler to grandparent, whip out their most stylish, bleached and slimming white ensemble to enjoy a picnic style dinner under the stars. Sound good already? The best part is that the location remains a secret to all guests until the night of the event. That’ll keep you busy whilst deciding the appropriate footwear to sport that night.
The evening consisted of endless dancing with sparklers to 90s RnB (that’s right Fatman Scoop and P-Diddy baby) and gracefully shying away from those brave and foolish enough to boogie with red wine at a white party. A few jokes and laughs are exchanged between new friends and I use the term “few” quite loosely in this instance, as the abs that I never thought I had are still aching from all the fun we had.
Now, for the fun bit of what I wore to the event; scrolling through the photos captured by the trusty IPhone it was definitely worth enduring the sheer weight and length of the dress that had me tripping every half a dozen paces. Was the dress transparent you ask? Hell to the yes it was transparent, to the point where it wouldn’t have mattered if I wore spanx or nothing at all. You could see the trace no matter what I did. In the end I made peace with the fact that at least 50% of the women in attendance would have the same problem. The solution? To stay glued to my ikea chair until dusk and then I was free to run havoc (just kidding, I was completely civilized… until Fatman Scoop came along). I decided to keep it quite simple on the night and just modeled my freshly printed flash tattoos (best idea ever in my opinion, but I guess its not everyone’s cup of tea).
It must be incredibly difficult to coordinate an event such as this and in such a publicly accessible area. Well done on arranging such an amazing evening! See you for DeB15!
Who else has attended a DeB event?
P.S. Watch this space for a little video to come of the night.
