Finding Your Perfect Summer Party Outfit

Oxford WomenswearA foreign concept to the majority of the world but we Australians experience a warm and balmy summer Christmas whilst the rest of the world rugs up in thermals and huge coats. December and January are the two months synonymous with endless barbeques, pool parties, beach soirees and afternoons spent on rooftops sipping cocktails with your squad. The thing that almost every lady says the moment after they RSVP their attendance for an event is “I don’t have anything to wear” – story of my life. It’s the story of every girl’s life.

I’ve put together three outfits suitable for every summer party you may attend this silly season and I’ve styled them with a brand that many wouldn’t immediately associate the words summer and party with. I walked into the Oxford store with the goal of structuring a story around how to look elegant and polished without looking like a librarian this summer. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to just put together outfits in under an hour. I’ve traditionally thought of Oxford as the place to shop if you wanted to land your dream job with a corporate but who knew I could find outfits like these?! Their designs are sensible (not librarian sensible) and stylish at the same time.

Oxford Skirt

Look 1:

I’ve chosen to style a bold printed skirt with a plain linen shirt for a look that can transition from a day at work to Christmas celebrations. This can be styled either with some cute boots or a pair of mules. I’ve gone with a pair of velvet boots to add another texture to the overall look.

Oxford Womens Outfits

Oxford WomenswearLook 2:

Nothing screams summer like a crisp pair of white shorts and a panama hat. I decided to style this with a vest and opted to use the tie that came with the shorts as a belt to add a little shape. A fresh pair of white kicks to channel the sport luxe theme will dress down an otherwise refined look. It’s the fashion equivalent of a no make up, make up look – I guess this is where the oxymoron of smart casual comes in.

Wearing – Petra Sleeveless Vest – Oxford, Madeline Patch Pocket Shorts – Oxford, Panama Hat – Sarah J Curtis, Sunglasses – Jimmy Choo, Sneakers – Adidas, Tomika Leather Cuff – Oxford

Oxford Playsuit

Look 3:

Oxford Playsuit
A beautiful playsuit can be styled for a day event with a gorgeous hat and some boots or dressed up in the evening
with a pair of thin-strapped heels. Afternoon soirees would be perfect as you will have the hat until dusk and then lose it for the after dark shenanigans.

Wearing – Molly Mosaic Print Playsuit – Oxford, Panama Hat – Sarah J Curtis, Ankle Boots – Balenciaga, Bag – Kate Spade

So for all my non-Australian readers, enjoy the FOMO because I’ll be flogging images of me in the sunshine this Christmas and working on my epic tan lines.
