Whilst I no longer hold a steady 9 to 5, that doesn’t mean I don’t like to dress up for certain occasions and there are days where I’ll wake up and want to channel my inner #GirlBoss. We spend over 50% of our week at work and as bad as that is to hear (or read), our wardrobe doesn’t have to reflect such misery.
Grana’s new worsted wool range is the perfect addition to your workwear wardrobe – functional, comfortable and versatile. Don’t worry; you’re not wearing your grandmother’s slacks. The drawstring pants and the culottes both scream work appropriate but also look relaxed enough to wear outside of the office.
What’s worsted wool you ask? I asked the same question and essentially it’s wool minus those fluffy wooly fibres you normally get with your knits. The twisting process in manufacturing removes the natural texture and you’re left with an incredible smooth, durable and lightweight fabric. The colors in the range make mixing and matching incredibly easy and lets face it, we want to be able to dress ourselves with our eyes closed and still look amazing because facing the weekly grind is bad enough.
Here are my top tips on how to make your everyday work looks work for you.
How to Make Your Work Outfits Stand Out
Tip 1: Inject Colour into your Look
Wearing all black is safe and probably the reason why you’re unmotivated in your job because you perpetually look like you’re about to attend a funeral. Perhaps you are mourning the loss of your soul to the corporate world but I’ve personally found that adding colours to your look can drastically change you both sartorially and emotionally.
I’ve chosen green because it always gives me a sense of calmness and anything that takes my mind away from the bottomless pit of work awaiting my attention is a bonus. Take baby steps and start by wearing a bold pair of shoes or just an accessory that pops.
Tip 2: Make a Statement with your Outerwear
Very often you’ll find that the easy answer to solve your sartorial woes is to have a statement jacket that gives you an incredible surge in confidence and poise. I’ve always invested in loud outerwear to use when I need to bring life into my looks and when you’re in the workplace with a hundred others dressed in monochrome, sometimes all you need is a statement jacket to bring you out of the mundane.
Tip 3: Plan for Sneakers & Stilettos
Having an outfit that you can pair with both Stan Smiths and Louboutins can be the savior to both your feet and street cred. So when you’re staring at your wardrobe and trying to piece together an acceptable look; ask yourself whether you can wear sneakers to work and stilettos during and after work. Thankfully the cuts of the tapered ankle pants and the culottes from the worsted wool range are perfect for both.
